Some games that I've written for various internet competitions, some time ago.

All downloads contain either source or source and Windows exe. Some Windows exes require
Allegro or other DLLs. All games here will run under Linux and Windows if correctly compiled
but may require recompilation to work on your machine.

Star Paint

This was my submission for the Allegro Xmashack 2005. The aim was to make
a nice game with a Christmassy theme in 8 days, as a gift to another
entrant, "secret-santa" style.
It's a space game with nice backgrounds but the gameplay is a bit lacking.
The aim is to move the stars into the destination areas.

- Gameplay style: 2d space game. You have to move the stars around.
Technical features
- Allegro & OpenGL
- Nice backgrounds
- Features the same spaceship model as Side Scroller

Jelly attack

AKA "attack of the mutant jellies". This was written for the TINS2003
Allegro competition (72 hours).
Game features
- Gameplay style: 2d cave gravity shooter, similar to Gravitar
- Upgradeable weapons and engines for your ship
- Several types of ammo & fuel to collect
- Six exciting levels
- End-of-game boss

- Not a tile-map
- Scrolling system
- Programmatically generated dungeon walls at runtime

Hurryhover
Near checkpoint 1 on track 1
A racing game, made for Allegro Speedhack 2004 (72 hours). Download exe
requires Allegro DLL (not included).
Game features
- Gameplay style: Hovercraft racing. Little friction and no brakes.
- Collectable powerups & power-downs
- Three tracks
- AI which doesn't cheat and is fairly competitive
- Detailed hovercraft sprites

Development Log
Peril
Peril - near the start
An isometric dungeon game. Made for TINS2005 (72 hours).
Fairly weak in some respects as I ran out of time to make it.
Made on 25th-28th Feb 2005.
Game features
- Gameplay style: run through the dungeon, killing baddies.
- Features a troll called Angela
- Sinusoidal water
- Unexplored areas not shown on the map
- Detailed sprites based on Reiner's Tileset sprites collection

Side Scroller
Sidescroller - level 5
An unimgaginative title.
A side scrolling shoot-em-up game. Made for the TWL 48hour compo 2005 (48 hours).
In this compo, all resources must be made by the programmer during the competition.
Made on the 26th - 27th March 2005
Game features
- Gameplay style: a simple side scrolling shooter. Fly your plane through a map filled with
obstacles and enemy turrets and flying saucers.
- Several types of enemy turret and saucer.
- Six levels
Technical features
- Uses SDL, opengl and SDL_ttf
- Parallax background.
- Uses 3d "sprites" which are actually textured models.
- Unusual fluid mouse control system; player's ship banks when cornering.
